I went to remove the blade on my mower this morning and to my surprise the two tabs that hold the blade and crank protector plate had sheared off. Does anyone happen to have a spare in their parts pile? Thanks, Dave
Blade spindle
You can still buy them new from various websites that deal with mowers but be warned, They ALL shear off eventually. Its ok, Almost all my mowers that I use regularly have them off by the end of the season. It's pretty normal. I sometimes upgrade to steel Murry hubs without pins. It's a safety feature in case you hit a stump or rock. I prefer them without shear pins.
Blade spindle
I ordered a few today good to know it's not too big of an issue. I shall steer around rocks and stumps until the new hub is installed (and after as well I suppose)
Blade adapter pins
I got tired of purchasing blade adapters when the pins broke. I drilled and tapped the adapter, lock-tited a copper bolt in the adapter and cut the heads off. They shear off just like the pins but are replacable. Been using it for the last 10-12 years. Original motor 48 years old. On my 4th set of wheels/tires.
Pins
Those pins always break off, Most running mowers never have them. I don't even bother, In fact I use a steel hub with no pins, Murray # 42734.
