Shortening the cam.

The 5hp cam is much longer, therefore the cam must be shortened in the middle. Approx 1/4" of the middle of the shaft must be removed to keep the lobes aligned on the tappets (and to just simply fit). Here lies the risk of improper valve timing if not aligned properly. Make some sort of mark before cutting to re-align the shaft after shortening. Back into the windowed block the cam parts go to be aligned and welded.
